Damage you can't see from the ground

After a hurricane, roof damage isn't always visible from the ground, even up close. Louisiana Infrared uses Level II certified thermal imaging to detect trapped moisture, compromised insulation, and early leak points before they become major structural problems.

We work exclusively with commercial, government, and institutional clients — property managers, contractors, and facility owners who need documented, defensible proof of damage for insurance claims and repair planning.

From one of our scans: wet insulation holds heat and shows up as warm areas on the thermal image.

How it works

How infrared works

  1. The sun loads the roof.

During a clear, sunny day the roof warms up. Wet insulation soaks up and stores more heat than dry insulation.

  2. We scan after dark.

As the roof cools, dry areas lose heat fast. Wet areas stay warm and show up bright on our thermal camera.

  3. We mark the areas on the roof.

Every wet area is outlined and numbered in paint right on the roof membrane, so your roofer and/or adjuster can walk straight to it.

  4. You get a detailed report.

Thermal and matching digital photos of each area, plus a roof map/plan that shows where the wet areas are and how much of the roof they cover.

Why scan after a storm

Water spreads quietly. Claims run on deadlines.

  • Hidden water does the most damage. Wind-driven rain gets under the membrane and soaks the insulation long before a leak shows up inside.
  • Proof is time-sensitive. Documenting damage while it's fresh ties it to the storm and supports your claim.
  • Repair or replace, decided on facts. A moisture map shows whether you need targeted repairs or a full replacement.
  • Independent and unbiased. We're a third-party inspection service with no financial interest in roofing manufacturers, suppliers or installers.
